WAR OF THE DEAD (2011) Dir: Marko Makilaakso

One thing I love more than zombies is Nazi zombies, there's just something about the undead S.S that strikes a cord with me. It could be my love of both WW2 films and my love of zombies in general, I just don't know, well there's a new film out at the moment on dvd called War Of The Dead that combines both those elements and film i've been following the production of for a few years. Check after the jump for me review..

After the gruelling task of reviewing an action movie a day for the U.K release of The Raid, I found i needed a break so took a week off, but i'm back now with a review for a new movie coming to DVD and Blu-Ray on Monday, the box office smash, Chronicle. 10 DAYS OF MAYHEM DAY 10: THE RAID (2011) Dir: Gareth Evans

So it's been a long 10 days, I’ve spent a fortune on action movie DVDs, typed hundreds of words and sat through near enough 30 action movies to bring you an action movie review everyday for the last 10 days leading up to the Welsh premier of The Raid. It's been fun, frustrating and at times I felt like giving up but I must soldier on so here it is folks, my review for Gareth Evans' THE RAID...

10 DAYS OF MAYHEM DAY 9: DIE HARD (1988)

Day 9 is upon us with only one day left of our 10 Days Of Mayhem series, It's been a long hard journey, a lot of action films good and Bad have been watched, a lot of words have been typed and to be honest this is the most amount of reviews I have written in such a short period of time and thanks to everyone who has read them. Anyway what awaits Day 9....JOHN McCLANE!!!!, that's right Day nine is all about Die Hard....

10 DAYS OF MAYHEM DAY 8: FIRST BLOOD (1982)

Day 8 of 10 DAYS OF MAYHEM, features one of the greatest action films ever made and a serious game changer in action movie genre. It was the start of the OTT action of the 80s and it's success ushered in a new sort of action film, the violent, bloody, post 'nam war at home film. Obviously this gave way to the likes of Schwarzenegger, Lundgren, Van Damme and Willis...Check out the review after the jump....

10 DAYS OF MAYHEM DAY 7: RONIN (1998)

10 Days of Mayhem continues with day 7's film, a crazy mix of Espionage spy thriller and old school practical action. This film is in my top 5 films of all time and I do mention it quite often on this site. John Frankenheimer's RONIN is my day 7 film, it's cool, it's loud and it's fuel injected. Checkout my mini review after the jump.

10 DAYS OF MAYHEM DAY 6: RAGE (1995)

After the fun and fights of Police Story I thought i'd return to the U.S for Day 6's film, now this film is probably not that known, it's straight to dvd, made by PM Entertainment who made a whole host of less than stellar action picks in the 90s such as Skyscraper starring Anna Nicole Smith as a chopper pilot and stuff like Cyber Tracker, Ring Of Fire and Maximum Force starring Flash Gordon's Sam J.Jones, so not the best track record but what they lack in high production values they certainly make up for with action....1995's Gary Daniels actioner RAGE cements that fact...

10 DAYS OF MAYHEM DAY 5: POLICE STORY (1985)

So far In our countdown of 10 Days Of Mayhem, i've looked at westerns and homages such as Assault On Precint 13, The Quick and The Dead and Desperado, so today, seeing as The Raid is coming from the far East I thought i'd take a look at a Hong Kong action film. So ladies and gentleman place your hands together for Jackie Chan's Police Story.....

10 DAYS OF MAYHEM DAY 4: DESPERADO (1995)

There has been a short delay in Day 4's film due to my work commitments which prohibited me from this write up but here I am ready to rock and roll with a great action movie review for you. So continuing our countdown to the Welsh premier of The Raid, this one comes from the mind and eye of Robert Rodriguez and stars Antonio Banderas as the 'Mariachi', that's right folks, day 4's film is DESPERADO....Puto!

10 DAYS OF MAYHEM DAY 3: THE QUICK AND THE DEAD (1995)

Day three of 10 Days Of Mayhem kicks into gear with another western, an actual western this time with Sam Raimi's mental gun slinger tournament actioner, The Quick and The Dead. Now a lot of people are going to be saying 'wait a minute, it's not an action film'....uhh they blow up a town and have duels....it's an action film, so why have I chosen this as day three's action movie ? Click read more and you'll find out...

10 DAYS OF MAYHEM DAY 2: ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 (1976)

We continue our 10 Days Of Mayhem countdown to the U.K release of The Raid with our second film, A film that is as genre defining as The Raid is said to be, a film set at a time when race was still an issue in certain parts of the U.S and gangs controlled the poorer areas of L.A. John Carpenter's Assault On Precinct 13 is the film and it did indeed influence a change in how certain films are made.

CORRUPT COPS: CINEMA'S EVIL LAW ENFORCERS

While looking through my list of messages left for me through the site, I came across one from a guy called Jay Smith, he has a website which isn't really about films but is about Criminal Justice Degrees. Well at first glance I just though it was spam, but I clicked on it anyway. Jay has compiled a list of top 10 corrupt coppers in cinema, and it's a pretty damn good countdown. I replied and told Jay that i would gladly link his countdown through Cine-Apocalypse so folks, if you click the read more button, you'll find the link to countdown. Cheers as always....

BRUTAL BRAWLS: A TOP 12 LIST OF MOVIE PUNCH UPS

Seeing as Gareth Evans' The Raid is coming to U.K cinema's from May 18th, I thought I'd do a countdown of the best movie brawls. Everything from 1 on 1 martial arts fights to full on Battle Royale's. I have decided to leave out anything that is enhanced by CGI such as the neo vs Agent Smith fight from Matrix Reloaded, this is all about pure brute force. So sit back relax and check out the countdown after the jump.
